All Aboard - 10/9/13
This is a place-holder until I have time to write the blog for today
Morning visit to Rialto
Boarding the ship
Originally we had planned to go in the evening to Musica a Palazzo, a "cultural club" that holds opera performances in an old palace. You literally go from room to room for different scenes. The oopera that night was "The Barber of Seville." It sounded very cool so I made reservations in advance via the internet.
The ship provided tickets (for $15) for a water shuttle to an area near St. Mark's. We considered using this service but we could not find out the schedule, when the last shuttle left St. Marks, or exactly where to go to get the shuttle. I was very frustrated with the staff's inability to answer such basic questions. Ultimately we decided not to go to the opera because it was too complicated to get there and back and we didn't have enough information on the water shuttle service - plus, we were tired. Add to that the fact that I forgot to reconfirm our reservations the previous day, so I didn't know if we would even be able to get in.
In the evening there was a show by a local chamber orchestra: Camerata Strumentale Italiana.
